Honor by definition is “That which rightfully attracts esteem, respect, or consideration self-respect dignity courage fidelity especially excellence of character high moral worth; virtue nobleness” As the weekend of “Non Political” rallies wind down in DC this weekend I was left a bit puzzled. First of all Honor isn’t something you can give freely. Honor like respect and trust has to be earned. It’s through your actions and your words that make you honorable or dishonorable. My other concern is regardless if you’re in Beck’s audience or not the fact is he is just a media mouthpiece, and whether or not you agree with the message or not, he is paid to speak the minds of those that fill his coffers. What Glen Beck fails to identify, or maybe he does, and hopes we all see past it, is that to be honorable, you have to be so all the time. And that means the truth. When we distort the truth is a lie. If we spin the truth its a lie. There is no gray area here. And one of the key fundamental problems in this country is we expect our politicians and media mouth pieces to lie to us, then we excuse the lie, or condemn the lie all based on our personal ideologies. To be honorable you must always speak and act on the side of what is right, even if you do not agree, especially if you do not agree. The man who can see past his own prejudices and do right, that is what honor means. To choose only that which agrees with you, even knowing that at the heart of it, you are wrong, well this is dishonor. And that leads me back to the controversy of the mosque near ground zero. While both sides are scrambling daily to come up with new ammunition to hurl at one another I am going to stick to my original argument and beat that dead horse into the ground, as it is the only argument needing to be addressed. And that is beyond everything, is the right of private ownership. The land on which this intended community center will be built on is rightfully owned by American Citizens. And as American Citizens they have the right of ownership. We may not like it but it is right. It is the truth. And the only Honorable thing to do is honor what is right. How many more freedoms and rights must we sacrifice as a whole to sooth the fears and discomforts of a few? By carrying on the fight against the mosque based solely on intolerance and ignorance and distorted facts is by nature the dishonorable thing to do. So just who is Glen Beck restoring honor for? My honor is intact I will always find the right path, and will not be swayed or guided by dishonorable men. Is it for the people? Those loyal listeners that hang on your every word? How can you restore honor for them? This is something they each need to do for themselves. And it begins with the realization that honor can not be achieved through the infliction of other people regardless of the cultural and religious differences. And the whole controversy centering all of this is nothing short of dishonorable. With terms distorting the truth like, Mosque at Ground Zero, 9/11 victory mosque. These are terms meant to sensationalize it and make it news worthy, but they are dishonorable lies. Meant to inflame and call to arms like-minded people. Who by design would be offended by these statements. And in their fear trepidation and intolerance, do not look any deeper into this beyond the inflaming words spread by dishonorable people. My advice to Glen Beck would be to work on restoring your own honor, the rest of us have to worry about ourselves.
Restoring Honor for Whom?
